Itinerary

Upon arrival in Kochi, you'll be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to relax and explore at your own pace.

Once a princely state, Kochi is often called "The Queen of the Arabian Sea." This morning, enjoy a sightseeing tour of the town, which includes the historic Parsi Synagogue, built in 1568, the Dutch Palace constructed by the Portuguese in 1555, and St. Francis' Church. A walking tour of Fort Cochin will take you through streets still lined with remnants of Portuguese, Dutch, and British colonial architecture. The afternoon and evening are free for you to explore at your leisure.

Drive south to Periyar, South India’s most renowned wildlife sanctuary, home to a variety of animals including bison, antelopes, sambar, wild boar, birds, and occasionally a tiger. You will stay in Kumily, a charming town near the sanctuary, known for its small spice and handicraft shops. There’s plenty to explore in and around Periyar, giving you the freedom to choose your activities. Enjoy an included boat ride on Lake Periyar, where you’ll have the chance to spot herds of wild elephants in their natural habitat.

Drive east to Munnar, a picturesque hill station nestled on the lush slopes of tea plantations. This charming destination exudes an old-world charm, reminiscent of the days of the Raj, with its elegant grandeur. Located at an altitude of 1525 meters, Munnar offers stunning views of the surrounding hills. Enjoy an included visit to the nearby lush tea estates, where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of this serene landscape.

Leave Munnar behind and drive to Alleppey, where you’ll board a simple yet charming private rice-boat for a serene journey through the backwaters. Over the course of a 20-kilometer route, the boat will glide past vibrant local villages, offering a glimpse into Kerala’s tranquil rural life. Onboard, the cook will prepare meals using fresh local produce, adding a delightful taste of the region to your experience.

Disembark at Kumarakom, nestled peacefully on the eastern shores of the vast Lake Vembanad in the heart of Kerala’s renowned backwaters. While the area has remained largely unchanged since the Middle Ages, its collection of exotic resorts has made it a prime destination to explore the tranquil backwaters. Technically an island in Lake Vembanad, Kumarakom is surrounded by lush, tropical waterways, offering a perfect spot to relax and unwind for a few days. Don’t miss a visit to the nearby bird sanctuary, which serves as a winter haven for numerous migratory bird species.

Kumarakom - Kochi. Today marks the conclusion of your journey. You may choose to extend your stay in Kochi or explore more of Kerala. Alternatively, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
