Upon your arrival in Cochin, a Wild Frontiers representative will greet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel, where you can relax and freshen up. In the evening, you’ll have the opportunity to witness an extraordinary performance of Kathakali, Kerala’s renowned classical dance form. Originating in the 17th century, Kathakali is distinguished by its vibrant costumes and elaborately painted faces, offering a fascinating glimpse into South India’s ancient stories and rich cultural heritage.

This morning, visit a local chef’s home to discover the art of preparing a traditional Kerala meal. Accompany your host to the local market to explore the diverse ingredients, and then enjoy a hands-on culinary adventure with one of Cochin’s finest experts. Relish the delicious meal in the warm ambiance of your host’s dining room.

After lunch, embark on a tour of Cochin, famously known as the ‘Queen of the Arabian Sea.’ As the oldest European settlement in India, Cochin showcases a vibrant blend of Arab, Chinese, European, and Indian influences. Highlights include the country’s oldest church and synagogue, as well as Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace, a stunning fusion of Kerala’s traditional architecture and colonial design.

Today, you’ll depart the coast and journey into the verdant hills of the Western Ghats, arriving at the charming hill town of Munnar. Perched at the confluence of three rivers, this serene retreat lies amidst the cool highlands, encircled by lush tea plantations and the mist-covered peaks of the Western Ghats.

Today, embark on a scenic walk through the picturesque Letchmi Hills, where you’ll traverse tea plantations, patches of Shola forest, and grasslands. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of the Idukki Dam, Asia’s tallest arch dam, and Anaimudi, the highest peak in South India. Keep an eye out for exotic wildlife and endemic bird species in this Biodiversity Hotspot of the Western Ghats. Pause for a delightful picnic amidst the stunning scenery before returning to Munnar. You’ll also have the option to visit a tea museum or the Srishti employment project to round off your day.

After breakfast, journey to Thekkady, home to the renowned Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. This community-driven ecotourism initiative is dedicated to preserving the region's rare flora and fauna while supporting the livelihoods of local residents.

Spend the morning exploring the wilder areas of Periyar Nature Reserve with a combination of hiking and bamboo rafting. Keep an eye out for wildlife such as tigers, elephants, sambar deer, giant squirrels, and Nilgiri langurs, as well as local tribespeople fishing or swimming in the serene waters. A haven for wildlife enthusiasts and bird lovers, the reserve boasts diverse fauna and expansive landscapes, offering an incredible opportunity to experience the natural wonders of southern India. In the early evening, take part in a birdwatching walk led by an expert naturalist guide.

This morning, journey back onto the fertile alluvial plains between the Western Ghats and the Indian Ocean as you drive to the town of Alleppey. Once there, you’ll board your private houseboat for a leisurely exploration of the stunning Kerala Backwaters, offering a unique opportunity to experience life along the tranquil channels and waterways of the West Coast.

This morning, disembark and embark on a scenic 4-hour drive to Kovalam, passing through a series of vibrant, colorful towns along the way. Upon arrival, settle into your beach retreat in Kovalam and enjoy the beauty of the Arabian Sea coastline.

Today is yours to unwind or explore at your own pace, soaking in the sandy beaches and warm waters of Kovalam. Known as 'Grove of Coconut Trees,' Kovalam boasts breathtaking beaches lined with swaying coconut palms and offers picturesque sunsets, making it the perfect backdrop to conclude your journey.
